HARVEY GIBBS - PROFILE

Having spent all his life involved in some way with the rural sector Harvey will be a valuable addition to our team at Selwyn Metcalfe Ltd as Rural and Lifestlyle Consultant.

Born and bred in the Alton district Harvey is a fourth generation farmer on the original Gibbs property. Educated at Alton Primary, New Plymouth Boys High School and Massey University, Harvey then spent some years at Patea Freezing Works as Quality Controller then Production Manager before beginning his farming career in earnest in 1980. Now that his son has joined him on the farm Harvey is able to extend his horizons and take on new challenges.

Harvey now welcomes the opportunity to apply his knowledge of farming and the farming sector combined with his excellent interpersonal and social skills to this new challenge in real estate. He is committed to providing prompt, reliable and friendly service to his clients and believes wholeheartedly in the honest, straight down the line approach of Selwyn Metcalfe Ltd.

Harvey has always been fully involved in the local community. He has been Treasurer, Board of Trustees Alton School, and is currently Alton Hall committee member, Alton Church warden, St George's Church Patea Restoration Committee, Patea Community Development Trust member, Treasurer Patea & Districts Boating Club and Patea Lions Club member, in charge of Slinks collection. He has a strong interest in native trees and farm sustainability and is a member of Federated Farmers, Taranaki Tree Growers and Farm Forestry Association of NZ.

His other interests include sea and trout fishing, and he enjoys the occasional game of golf. He has performed in a number of productions including ‘Poi E, the Musical' and Hawera Repertory production of ‘Les Miserables.' He is currently guitarist/singer for local covers band “Altonator”.
