VAL REI
PROFILE
Val was born in Patea and attended the Patea Primary School and then the Patea District High School (as it was known then). After leaving school she worked for a local Public Accountant for two years. Val married in 1967 and went dairy farming at Kakaramea for eighteen years.
In 1989 a job opportunity arose in the Patea High School library. Val started part time and progressed to managing the library for over the ten years. During this time she attained her New Zealand Library Studies Certificate. Val then went on to manage the Hawera Intermediate School library for three years. The four years prior to starting at Selwyn Metcalfe Limited she worked as a receptionist and administrator at Ngati Ruanui Tahua.
Val has four adult children and three grandchildren (another due in February). Her daughter Lisa lives in Melbourne, and daughter Fiona lives in Brisbane. Val's son Patrick lives in Patea and her youngest daughter Kellie lives in New Plymouth. For as long as Val can remember she has been involved in some kind of sport - athletics, netball, badminton, tennis, squash and golf. More recently Val has become involved with Masters Sports and competitions.
Val moved to Hawera four years ago and lives with her partner Lynton. They both enjoy dancing and are looking forward to converting their tour coach into a motor home.
Val's only experience with Real Estate was when she became a first homeowner last year. She has completed the necessary study and is now fully qualified with her Real Estate Salesperson Certificate.
